Thanks For Being Awesome!

The Fremantle Sailing Club Women’s RAMP It Up! Fundraiser you attended on Friday November 5th was a success raising over $8,000 which will fund our program for more than a year. A big thank you for attending and an equally big thank you to those who participated in the Silent Auction or brought some of the merchandise that was on sale.

To recap, guest speakers on the night were Andy Fethers and Skip Lissiman representing Swan River Sailing and Olympians Nia Jerwood and Monique de Vries who put up with some intriguing observations and questions about their sailing careers. Star guest on the night was the RAMP Hall of Fame Inaugural Inductee, Kaye Riseley who was recognised for her contribution towards women’s participation in sailing.

RAMP’s first action item was to ensure that FSC had two teams in Swan River Sailing’s Special Edition  30th Anniversary Women’s Keelboat Regatta. After Team Rat Bags having secured 2nd place, next comes a program of training and skills development so that by March 2022 RAMP will aim to have three FSC teams in the Women’s State Keelboat Championship event.

Along the way, we aim to deliver more participation for women providing pathways into the inshore and offshore racing fleets. Perhaps you might also see a RAMP team doing the Geraldton next year?
