SUMMER SERIES CONSISTENCY RACE 2 – 19 October 2019

As a complete contrast to the first race of the season the light 4 knot North Easterly winds had the 20 yachts contesting the Second Consistency/ First Championship race searching for the start boat positioned at Race mark “Y”. Kanyana has a much smaller profile when anchored out that far and with the weather being warm and light there were many power boats out enjoying the conditions.

Our starters were tested as the light wind was shifting back and forth from ENE to Easterly, finally settling on Course 13 for the afternoon race. As the fleets were getting away, Port tack starts were the choice for most skippers from the pin end of the line with only a few trying the starboard tack to the line before going about.

The light and flukey conditions persisted for the first three legs of the course and the RO decided to shorten the course to ensure all yachts would be guaranteed a finish for the Championship Race.

Race Report by Brian Cooper
In all it was a pleasant but short afternoon out on the water for the crews.
