Matt Wearn Secured Maiden ILCA 7 Wolrd Championship

 

We would like to extend our congratulations to Fremantle Sailing Club Sailor Matt Wearn who secured his maiden ILCA 7 World Championship over the weekend, breaking a 3 year streak of silver medals. In doing so Matt also qualifies Australia for a spot in Paris 2024 in the ILCA 7s and solidifies himself as the front runner for selection for Australia.

We’d like to also congratulate all our other FSC Sailors who competed in The Hauge over the last week. Nia Jerwood & Conor Nicholas 36th – Mixed 470, Elyse Ainsworth 31st – ILCA 6, Ethan McAullay 17th – ILCA 7, Luke Elliott 20th – ILCA 7, Zac Littlewood 34th – ILCA 7 and Harry Joyner 36th – IQ Foil who at 17 years old qualified for his first Senior World Championship Gold Fleet! 

Additionally we would like to congratulate Stefan Elliot Shircore who

a week prior headed to Norway to compete at the U21 European Championship, coming away with a well deserved silver medal.

The Hague, The Netherlands is hosting the 2023 Allianz Sailing World Championships from 11th to 20th August 2023. More than 1200 sailors from 80 nations are racing across ten Olympic sailing disciplines. Paris 2024 Olympic Sailing Competition places will be awarded as well as 10 World Championship medals
