From the Helm
Dear Members,
The Club is off to a fresh start with our new CEO and newly elected Board. I welcome our CEO Craig Evans, Treasurer Michael Webb, RC Sail Steve Parkinson, and Board members Charlotte Osborne, Dave Kenny and John Rayner. In addition, Steve Delfos was re-elected to the Board.
FSC has a strong Board who are focused on our long-term future. I am very appreciative of the efforts of the previous Board who worked hard for the Club.
Although people are hard to get in Western Australia and COVID has been disruptive, the Club is settling down into a stable workforce. We do still have staff shortages, and I thank all of our staff who have worked so hard to bridge the gaps while we try to build up our numbers.
Sections have been active with section AGM’s now complete. The weather has kept some of us out of the water as the winter storms have rolled through, and we look forward to good weather that spring brings to Fremantle.
In June, a Town Hall Information meeting was held to provide an open forum for presentation and discussion on the DoT lease negotiations, the increase in maintenance fees, and the marina maintenance strategy. The feedback on this meeting from members who attended was positive and we plan to hold future such meetings for the big issues that the Club and its members are faced with.
The Board looks forward to working closely with the members and staff to provide a welcoming environment and a sound financial future for the Club.
Open Day 2022
Please be advised that on Sunday 11 September from 10.00am until 2.30pm, the Club will be hosting our annual ‘Open Day’.
We would like to invite you to bring your friends and families along and discover what Fremantle Sailing Club has to offer. There is plenty of fun to be had on the day with on-water activities, food, live music, art exhibition, prizes and more. Each of our Activity Sections will be heavily involved.
Please note the following reminders that will be applicable on the day:
- The Galley Restaurant will be closed for lunch. However, food stalls will be located on the sunset deck.
- Members may experience restricted access with parking
We thank you for your cooperation and look forward to seeing you on the day.
Projects around the Club
Work on the Coffee Deck commenced last week. If you have been down to the club, you will see some changes present with a structural beam installation and a bi-fold roof, which is currently being installed. Look out for further updates.
Members Information night
The last town hall/information night held in June was received well by those in attendance and as promised, the Commodore would like to continue to hold these types of forums and improve transparency between the Board of Management and FSC members.
The next information night will be held in the month of October. Date to be communicated next month.
If you have any questions regarding this update, please email Sarah at ea@fsc.com.au
