History of the Major Byrne Trophy for Ron Warren Memorial Race

The 1901/1902 Season closed in April when a Smoke Concert was given as the closing function. One hundred members were present and the Vice President,

1. G. Bourne, was in the Chair. Prizes were given out. There were two handsome cups, one presented by D. Symonds “of Esmeralda fame”, which was won by Xanthe, and the other, “a beautiful work of art” donated by Major W. G. Byrne and presented by the Mayor of Fremantle, Mr L. Alexander. Medora, skippered by Captain Sweetman won the latter.
