KEN COOK MEMORIAL SHIELD – INSHORE RACE
Born and grew up in Fremantle with a family that loved ‘mucking about in boats’. He started sailing in VJs before progressing to the Heavy Weight Sharpies and later the Australian Light Weight Sharpie. He had several yachts – all called Jason and was a dedicated FSC Inshore sailor. He was involved in FSC club admin for 1944 in all positions up to Commodore, this included 16 consecutive years as Treasurer. He was also a delegate to the Yachting Association of WA including about 10 years on Executive and a term as president. He was a Life member of FSC (from 1968) and having been a Sharpie sailor for 34 years was a Life member of that Association. He was an early Chair of the Constitution and Rules Committee, Club Historian and Junior Section Liaison Officer. His yacht Jason 4 was put on display in the Fremantle Maritime Museum.
