During the night of 14 June 1940 off the coast of New Zealand, the Royal Mail Ship Niagara struck a mine planted by a Nazi raider and sank in 70 fathoms (130m) of water. But what happened to the 8½ tons of solid gold bars and the 150 people on board? This is a great story with heavy involvement from Australia.
