Kids Fishing Clinic – 29 September 2022

Kids Clinic September 29

The September Kids Clinic proved to be another successful outing with 15 kids enjoying a day out at sea on Success.

Organised and run by Angling Section volunteers, the Clinics have become a holiday institution at the Fremantle Sailing Club, with spots on the boat eagerly snapped up by parents for their children to sample the delights of fishing in a safe and well-managed environment.

Volunteers Martin Smith, John Holbrook, Nev Norkett, Jim Barlow and Bert Zuideveld were aboard to assist on the day while Lana Whittleton was also on the deck with her son, Jack.

The party was greeted with a mild easterly in the morning when some whiting and herring were caught north of Mewstone before Success headed sou-west of the rock where some plump sand whiting were caught.

Two Subway platters were devoured by the crew when Success was anchored for lunch near the Bent Pin before the kids had another fish.

To cap off a great day, the kids were treated to a Cook’s tour of the Fishing Boat Harbour before returning next door to the FSC where they enjoyed ice creams and shared some stories of the day.

The Angling Section plans to run two Clinics in the January 2023 school holidays, so stayed tuned if you want your kids involved.
