Standard IRC Rating Certificates
In May 2024 Australian Sailing announced a significant change of policy: from June 2024 boats can apply for Standard IRC certificates, marking a significant departure from the long-standing requirement in Australia for Endorsed certificates. This change is aimed at lowering barriers to participation, such as boat weighing and measurement, and encouraging more sailors to engage in competitive racing at their sailing club.
FSC will be accepting Standard IRC certificates for the upcoming season and for new boats to IRC or last rated more than 7 years ago are eligible for a 25% discount. Click the button to read more…
Invitation from ORCV
We would like to extend an invitation to FSC sailors to join us in ORCV’s Devonport, Hobart and Port Fairy Races. These races are special because they will feature full and double handed crews, 4+ autohelm, monohulls and multi-hulls. We’ve got it all! If your crew want to prove themselves capable of conquering the Bass Strait, these are the races to participate in.
ORWA 2024-25 Season Update
The ORWA website is being updated and member registrations are now open online for full, casual and associate /crew membership.
The Yellow Book is not far away.
The ORWA Season Opening Function will be held at RPYC Annexe on Thursday 12th September, 6-8pm.
Division Flags In Stock
Prior to the commencement of another summer of sailing, grab a new division flag for your boat. All divisions available from Reception. $15 each.

Cockburn Sound Regatta 2024
Nominations are now open for this year’s Cockburn Sound Regatta (Friday 27 to Monday 30 December) and if you get your entry in by the end of this month, you will have 4 entries in the draw for the Early Bird Prize.

For everyone intending to participate in Keelboat sailing this coming season, please attend this important briefing to learn more about on-water safety and aspects of the upcoming season.
Get Your Audit Done Early
The start of the summer sailing season is looming ever closer and it may be time to consider booking your boat in for your next equipment audit. There are less volunteer Equipment Auditors in the Club now so even more reason to start preparing now.

New Racing Rules out now!
World Sailing have published the 2025 – 2028 edition of the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS). Click the button to download.
The “blue version” will also be released by Australian Sailing very soon.
New Rules will apply from 1st January 2025.

Safety & Sea Survival Courses
Registrations are now available for the 2024-2025 season of SSS courses. This course is highly recommended for the racer, cruiser or powerboatie and is conducted right here at Fremantle Sailing Club.
Refresher requirement update:
A Refresher course may be taken to renew a certificate if the Refresher course is completed within 2 years of the expiration of the individual’s most recent SSSC certificate.
Interested in becoming a paid SSS Instructor? We need to hear from you. An instructor course is being planned for Perth.

Keelboat Winter Series
The Winter Series kicks off on Saturday, 8 June 2024 with the first race of the Valmadre Series.
The Winter Series includes the Valmadre Series (IRC/PHF) as well as the Performance Series (PHF), each running 4 races. The race documents including courses are contained in the Keelboat Sailing Handbook. Performance Series use Southern Courses while the Northern Courses are for the Valmadre Series.

Fremantle to Indonesia Race & Rally 2025
Last Thursday over 100 members enjoyed an Indonesian special meal and Bintang beer as part of the official launch of the Fremantle to Indonesia Race and Rally which will start on May 10, 2025. An overview of the event was provided by committee members. Please register as early as you can to assist planning. Further information, and the Notice of Race/Rally is available on our Club Website.
Volunteer Request
From time to time our regular Keelboat volunteer start team find themselves short either through last minute illness or some other unforeseen circumstance. Situations like this could impact on the quality of running events at the Club, so we need to be able to call upon a reserve pool of volunteers.
If you think you could lend a hand in these times, please contact the Boating Office.
Keelboat Events:
- Saturday Afternoon Keelboat Racing starts 1350 until 1700
- Sunday Morning Keelboat Racing starts 0900 until 1400
- Wednesday Twilight Sailing starts 1800 until approximately 1930
Skill level required is minimal and easy training is readily available.
Crew Available
New crew entries are being posted almost daily on Crew Match. If you need crew or you have room onboard to show someone new how much fun sailing at Fremantle can be, we encourage you to review the many entries listed on Crew Match.
