Clipper Round the World - December 2023

Clippers are heading for Fremantle
Getting close now, with the fleet having departed Cape Town on 18th November for leg 3 – ‘The Roaring Forties’, Cape Town to Freo. Known in the sailing world as the most extreme and exhilarating sailing in the world, the fleet of 11 will head south to the 40th parallel, before arriving here in the West.
Plans are well and truly under way here at the club to make their stay another unforgettable one her in Freo. They will all be berthed together up around the Service jetty, so feel free to pop up and say Hi.
Vessel arrival window is from the 11-14th of Dec with the Clipper team getting here for preparations on the 5th. We expect the club to be massively vibrant through the time they are hosted at FSC and we ask all members to get involved and make all involved welcome to help make their stop over as memorable, if not more, than their previous visits.
Various events will be held during the stopover, so looks out for communications for them over the next month.
Lastly, the Clippers have challenged FSC to a quintessential cricket match. We need to put a first 11 team together for the 17th Dec, so if anyone is keen to get involved and take it to them, please get in touch with the Harbour Office.
Harbour Master Updates
Disused bicycles
Dear members,
Following the recent tidy up of the bicycle racks located on the southern side of the clubhouse we are doing the same with the bicycles located on the northern side of the clubhouse, see below. There are multiple bicycles in this area that appear to be disused. We need your assistance to determine which bicycles are actively used and which are disused. Please read the below carefully. A reminder that bicycles are only to be stored in the racks provided. Bicycles unattended or locked in inappropriate areas may be removed by staff. The club is currently considering options for provision of additional bicycle racks onsite.
- Yellow tags have been affixed to the handlebar of ALL bicycles.
- You have TWO WEEKS until 19th December 2023 to remove the yellow tag from any actively used bicycles.
- Any bicycles with remaining yellow tags after 19th December 2023 will be removed and relocated to the clubs impound yard, locks cut if necessary.
- Any bicycles remaining unclaimed after one month will become the property of the Fremantle Sailing Club and be repurposed or disposed of appropriately.
