Fremantle Sailing Club’s Duty Officers

Members will see Duty Officers walking the jetties, checking the hardstand areas, talking to members and dealing with queries when staff are not present. In general, they provide some of the “Club Atmosphere” in our great club. They also deal with local, interstate and overseas visitors to the Club extending a warm FSC welcome. Duty Officers will most likely be the section that members will have something to do with outside their main activity because of their presence at the Club every weekend both during the season and the following winter months.

Duty Officers are rostered on each weekend 4-5 hours each day and will assist members as needed with direct access to the Harbour Master, Duty Manager, Events and Food and Beverage staff. While on duty the Duty Officers will be in uniform and available to members for queries. A recently added Duty Officer service for members to use is the provision of “Justice of the Peace” access over the weekend. Passport renewals and official documents can be dealt with by calling the mobile number available at the desk and the JP will come to the Club to assist members.

In addition to the above, the favourite task of the Section each year is to organise the Annual Children’s Christmas Party held in the first week of December. Children from 1 through to 12 are entertained, fed and receive a gift from Santa on a day set aside for children at the Club. Sons, daughters, nieces, nephews and grandchildren of members are all welcome on what always becomes a great Club day for the kids.

The Duty Officers Section meets bi-monthly to discuss forthcoming Club functions and rosters. Apart from the official activities, the Duty Officer Section has an active social programme having lots of fun.  The Section Captain is Chief Duty Officer Greg Hancock who is always keen to talk to FSC members who are interested in “giving back something to the cluband becoming a part of this team.
